SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Those students with disabilities or special educational needs may contact the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering (ADYV - https://www.um.es/adyv) to receive guidance on better use of their training process and, where appropriate, the adoption of measures of equalization and improvement for inclusion, under the Rectoral Resolution R-358/2016. The treatment of information about this student body, in compliance with the LOPD, is strictly confidential.
ASSESSMENT
In the assessment process, Article 135.1(v) of the Statutes of the University of Murcia, Article 8.6 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA), and Instruction SG 18/2026 issued by the Secretary General of the University of Murcia, which interprets these provisions, shall apply. The instruction is available at the following link: https://sede.um.es/sede/documento/normativa/instruccion-del-secretario-general-sg-18-2026-sobre-la-interpretacion-y-aplicacion-del-art-135-1-v-estatutos-umu/24199.pdf
Students are also reminded that Article 22.1 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA) provides that "any student who engages in fraudulent conduct, including the improper misrepresentation of identity or authorship, or who is in possession of means or instruments that facilitate such conduct, shall receive a grade of zero in the assessment process and may, where appropriate, be subject to disciplinary sanctions following the initiation of disciplinary proceedings."
1. Clarifications regarding the exam sessions
1.1. Call II
The exam will consist of the following TWO parts, both of which are eliminatory:
· Written exam: Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension and Listening Comprehension (40%): These four sections will be sat together within the same time slot set for the exam. The exam will be multiple-choice. The written exam is passed with a mark of 2 out of 4 or higher. Failure of the written exam automatically results in failure of the course.
· Oral exam: Speaking (30%). This exam will be digitally recorded and will take place on a different day to the written exam. The oral exam is passed with a mark of 1.5 out of 3 or higher. Failure of the oral exam automatically results in failure of the course.
Once the written and oral exams have been passed, the total score from all assessment tools must be 5 or higher in order to pass the course.
In the calls following the one in which the course is taught, students may apply to retake assessment systems SE3 and SE6. Those wishing to retake their assessment must notify this via the “Apúntate” tool (Virtual Classroom) within five days of the exam announcement being published on the AV.
The SE3 assessment will be retaken by doing a written report on the day of the written exam, immediately following the exam itself.
The SE6 assessment will be retaken by awarding a mark worth 40 per cent to the oral exam.
1.2. Call III
It will follow the same terms as those established for Call II, as described in section 1.1.
THOSE ASSESSMENT TOOLS PASSED IN CALL II WILL BE CARRIED OVER TO CALL III OF THIS ACADEMIC YEAR. HOWEVER, MARKS FROM CALL I, NOR THOSE FROM CALL III, WILL BE CARRIED OVER TO SUBSEQUENT CALLS.
1.3. Call I
It will follow the same terms as those set out in section 1.1, with the exception of the weighting assigned to each of the assessment tools, which will be as follows:
· Written exam: Grammar/Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension and Listening Comprehension (40%)
· Oral exam (30%)
· Final written report (30%)
To make it easier for students to travel, the written exam and the final written report will take place on the same day.
1.4. Overall assessment
Students who, for any of the reasons set out in Article 8.6 of the REVA and supported by documentary evidence, are unable to follow the in-person assessment system described in the previous sections, may opt for the overall assessment system, which consists of the following:
· Written exam: Grammar/Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension and Listening Comprehension (40%)
· Oral exam (30%)
· Final written report (30%)
To make it easier for students to travel, the written exam and the final written report will take place on the same day.
