  2. Presentation

This course tries to be, in the initial training of Primary Education teachers, the central subject dedicated to starting developing competencies that convert students into competent teachers in the contemporary technological context

However, we have to bear in mind that those competencies cannot be developed in a finalist way (ie, that are never fully developed), so it is vital to be aware that the goal of this subject is:

To offer students information tools, learning strategies and cognitive mechanisms that allow them to start developing their teaching competence for the digital world and continue developing it autonomously or guided -according to their needs- throughout their professional performance.

The teaching guide of the subject is presented with total flexibility, in such a way that the dynamics of the formative process will mark the design and the possible modifications to be made It is an initial proposal that orients the content and work dynamics of the subject for all groups.

      • Practical activity 1: Reflection, planning and evaluation of resources and methodological strategies in the primary classroom. Global ePortfolio

During the four-month period, students will complete a series of classroom-based tasks (at least one per topic) aimed at supporting continuous work, the theoretical and practical application of course content, and reflection on their own learning.

These tasks will be documented in a web-based environment in the form of a portfolio, which will include both the products created and evidence of the learning process. Activities may be carried out individually and/or in teams and may include processes of design, development, implementation, review, presentation and oral defence.

When required by the nature of the activity, learning and assessment will not be limited to the final product but will also include the work process developed throughout the course. In such cases, assessment may include active participation, the assumption of roles and responsibilities, coordination among participants, argumentation and shared decision-making, the implementation of designed proposals, and their presentation and oral defence.

The practical activities included in the portfolio will address the course content from both theoretical and practical perspectives and will include opportunities for reflection on the learning process.

    SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Those students with disabilities or special educational needs may contact the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering (ADYV - https://www.um.es/adyv) to receive guidance on better use of their training process and, where appropriate, the adoption of measures of equalization and improvement for inclusion, under the Rectoral Resolution R-358/2016. The treatment of information about this student body, in compliance with the LOPD, is strictly confidential.

    ASSESSMENT

In the assessment process, Article 135.1(v) of the Statutes of the University of Murcia, Article 8.6 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA), and Instruction SG 18/2026 issued by the Secretary General of the University of Murcia, which interprets these provisions, shall apply. The instruction is available at the following link: https://sede.um.es/sede/documento/normativa/instruccion-del-secretario-general-sg-18-2026-sobre-la-interpretacion-y-aplicacion-del-art-135-1-v-estatutos-umu/24199.pdf

Students are also reminded that Article 22.1 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA) provides that "any student who engages in fraudulent conduct, including the improper misrepresentation of identity or authorship, or who is in possession of means or instruments that facilitate such conduct, shall receive a grade of zero in the assessment process and may, where appropriate, be subject to disciplinary sanctions following the initiation of disciplinary proceedings."

    REMARKS FROM THE TEACHING STAFF

This subject is directly linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it directly assumes as a horizon the achievement of all the targets of SDG 4 "Quality Education", but also aims to contribute to the specific targets of other SDGs, in particular:

5b Enhance the use of enabling technology, particularly information and communications technology, to promote women's empowerment

9c Significantly increase access to information and communications technology and strive to provide universal and affordable access to the Internet in the least developed countries

    Assessment Observations:

To pass the course, students must obtain a minimum grade of 5 out of 10 in both SE1 and SE3. The final course grade will only be calculated according to the established weighting once both assessment systems have been passed.

SE1 may be conducted in written or oral format, provided that the lecturer responsible for the group specifies this at the beginning of the teaching period. In all cases, the assessment criteria established for this system will apply.

Where required by the nature of the assessment task or the evidence submitted, lecturers may conduct interviews, oral defences, individual presentations or other complementary procedures to assess students’ understanding and individual mastery of the intended learning, their ability to explain and justify the decisions made, and the coherence between the evidence submitted and the explanations provided regarding its content and development process.

SE3 forms part of continuous assessment. The portfolio includes activities of different kinds and may incorporate components involving sustained in-person performance related to teamwork, the assumption of roles and responsibilities, coordination among participants, argumentation, negotiation and shared decision-making, the implementation of proposals with other participants, and presentation, defence and interaction within the context of the activity itself. In such cases, assessment is not limited to the final product but also includes students’ effective performance throughout the collective work process.

Where these components are explicitly included in the activity and its assessment criteria, they are considered materially non-substitutable, as they require students’ effective and sustained participation in an in-person, time-bound, collective and interactive context and, owing to the nature of the learning involved, it is not possible to design a subsequent alternative assessment task or activity that would allow equivalent assessment. Consequently, no full substitute assessment will be available for these components.

In SE3 activities that incorporate such materially non-substitutable components, 60% of the marks allocated to the activity will correspond to learning that can be assessed equivalently through an alternative assessment and will therefore be eligible for reassessment. The remaining 40% will correspond to materially non-substitutable components involving in-person, process-based, collaborative and interactive performance and will not be eligible for reassessment through a subsequent activity.

This distribution will apply only to activities in which these components have been identified in advance in the planning of the relevant activity and are explicitly included in its assessment criteria. All other SE3 activities will be fully eligible for reassessment where the learning being assessed can be evaluated equivalently through an alternative activity.

In the examination period corresponding to the academic year in which the course is taught, students who provide evidence of duly justified unforeseen circumstances under the terms established in Article 8.6 of the REVA will be entitled to a comprehensive assessment. This will consist of an individual theoretical and practical assessment corresponding to SE1 (50%) and, for the learning corresponding to SE3 (50%), the preparation, presentation and individual oral defence of the activities or project specified for this purpose. With regard to SE3, the limitation on full substitution established above for materially non-substitutable components will apply.

The grade obtained in SE3 will be retained in subsequent examination periods until the course is taught again, unless the student requests reassessment. In the absence of an explicit request within the established period, the grade previously obtained will be retained.

In examination periods subsequent to the one corresponding to the academic year in which the course is taught, students may request reassessment of SE3 where they have not passed it or have not participated in its assessment. Reassessment will involve the preparation and submission and, where appropriate, individual presentation or oral defence of the activities specified in the corresponding assessment notice. Activities that are fully substitutable may be reassessed in full; for activities incorporating previously identified materially non-substitutable components, the distribution established above of 60% eligible for reassessment and 40% not eligible for full substitution will apply.

Requests for reassessment must be submitted by email to the lecturer responsible for the relevant group within the five days following publication of the corresponding assessment notice and, in all cases, before the reassessment activity or assessment takes place. In the absence of an explicit request within this period, the grade previously obtained will be retained.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in course activities must be ethical, critical and consistent with the intended learning outcomes and the principles of academic integrity. Their use will be subject to the specific guidance established by the lecturer responsible for the group, who may authorise, guide or restrict their use according to the design and objectives of each activity.

Lecturers may establish complementary assessment and verification procedures—including interviews, oral defences, individual presentations or other appropriate procedures—to assess students’ individual mastery of the intended learning, their ability to explain and justify the decisions made, the coherence between the evidence submitted and the explanations provided regarding its content and development process, and compliance with the principles of academic integrity. These procedures will be applied in accordance with the assessment criteria established in the course guide.

Assessment procedures will be governed by Article 135.1(v) of the Statutes of the University of Murcia, Article 8.6 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA), and Secretary-General Instruction SG-18/2026 on the interpretation and application of these provisions.
