SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Those students with disabilities or special educational needs may contact the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering (ADYV - https://www.um.es/adyv) to receive guidance on better use of their training process and, where appropriate, the adoption of measures of equalization and improvement for inclusion, under the Rectoral Resolution R-358/2016. The treatment of information about this student body, in compliance with the LOPD, is strictly confidential.
ASSESSMENT
In the assessment process, Article 135.1(v) of the Statutes of the University of Murcia, Article 8.6 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA), and Instruction SG 18/2026 issued by the Secretary General of the University of Murcia, which interprets these provisions, shall apply. The instruction is available at the following link: https://sede.um.es/sede/documento/normativa/instruccion-del-secretario-general-sg-18-2026-sobre-la-interpretacion-y-aplicacion-del-art-135-1-v-estatutos-umu/24199.pdf
Students are also reminded that Article 22.1 of the Student Assessment Regulations (REVA) provides that "any student who engages in fraudulent conduct, including the improper misrepresentation of identity or authorship, or who is in possession of means or instruments that facilitate such conduct, shall receive a grade of zero in the assessment process and may, where appropriate, be subject to disciplinary sanctions following the initiation of disciplinary proceedings."
This course is directly linked to Sustainable Development Goal 4, “Quality Education”, and Sustainable Development Goal 10, “Reduced Inequalities”.
Students must pass the exam (SE1, written test), the assignments and their public presentation (SE3 and SE4) in order to pass the course.
In the examination session corresponding to the period in which the course is taught, students are not entitled to retake the continuous assessment components comprising SE3 (individual and group practical activities), SE4 (oral presentation) and SE6 (attendance and class participation), except where students can provide evidence of unforeseen circumstances in accordance with Article 8.6 of the REVA. In such cases, the overall assessment will consist of the submission of the required assignments (80%) and a multimedia presentation of the tasks completed.
The continuous assessment grade will be retained for subsequent examination sessions until the course is taught again, unless the student requests to retake it.
In examination sessions subsequent to the one corresponding to the period in which the course is taught, students may request to retake SE3, SE4 and SE6. To request a retake, students must email the course teaching staff for their group: Bilingual Group (lindacq@um.es, jd.lopezgiraldo@um.es), within 5 calendar days after the examination sitting.
Assessment component SE3 (practical activities) may be retaken by submitting the assignments and exercises specified by the teaching staff through the “Tasks” tool, within the deadlines indicated in the notice published on the course site in the Virtual Learning Environment (Aula Virtual).
Assessment component SE4 (presentation) may be retaken through interviews, presentations or oral defences, at the discretion of the teaching staff.
Assessment component SE6 (attendance and participation) may be retaken through interviews, presentations or oral defences, at the discretion of the teaching staff.
Students who, due to unforeseen circumstances, are unable to attend class sessions must speak to the teaching staff for the course, explaining and providing evidence of their situation.
University assignments and coursework must be original. Cases of total or partial plagiarism will be penalised with a mark of 0 for the assessment component in which plagiarism is detected. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in carrying out course assignments must be conducted in an ethical and critical manner, and in accordance with the learning objectives. Such use shall be subject to the specific guidelines established by the course teaching staff, who may restrict, guide or permit its use depending on the pedagogical design of each activity.
Furthermore, the teaching staff may, where deemed appropriate, implement supplementary verification mechanisms — such as interviews, oral defences, individual presentations or other procedures — in order to verify students’ genuine involvement in the work submitted and to ensure the academic integrity of the assessment process.
